The B&W G3s are great machines, as long as you have enough RAM. The only 
trouble I encountered installing YDL 3.0.1 on my machine was with the 
Apple CD ROM. The install would stall at varying points. When I replaced 
the Apple CDROM with a TEAC CDRW, The install went without a hitch in 
text mode. I'm still uncertain if this was an OF issue, a hardware issue 
or both. I subsequently put the Apple drive in my 7500, and had no 
problems when I did a fresh install there.

You may encounter some OF issues, but if you search the Mailing List 
archives and check out:
<http://www.sharplabs.com:8668/space/Installing+YDL/BootX%2C+Yaboot+and+the+OF>
and the links there, you should be able to get thru without a hitch (and 
the folks here on the list are always here ;)).

AFAIK, the only machines being officially dropped are OldWorld Macs 
(Beige G3s and earlier).
