Editing menus revisited

        How do you unlock the Gnome-2.6 menus for editing???

Answer: 
        Not easily.  There may be a way, but menu editing in GNOME-2.6
        is generally broken.

        Did this ever get fixed in later versions of GNOME?

Answer: 
        Maybe... 
        Under gnome-2.8.2.1 menus are editable.  However, all the other
        menus from the YDL-4 gnome-2.6 install have vanished. 
        
        Under gnome-2.9.91 menus are once again locked.  However, all
        the other menus from the YDL gnome-2.6 install have reappeared.
        
Question:

        What do you think about that?

Answer:
