Problems with updated kernel

Hello YDL,

  I just got a B&W 350MHz this weekend so I installed YDL 4.0 on it.
  Ran yum update and noticed that there was a new kernel
  (2.6.10-1.ydl.1). I added it to my /etc/yaboot.conf and ran "ybin
  -v -v" I did not set it up as my default kernel, but rather
  selected it on boot. Problems started arising, namely with
  networking (device isn't seen). The whole reason I wanted the new
  kernel was to try and get sound working, but I can't live without
  networking, I can without sound.

  My question is, are there known problems with the latest kernel and
  if so, what are some of the work arounds?

  Here is the contents of my /etc/yaboot.conf
# yaboot.conf generated by anaconda

boot=/dev/hda6
init-message="Welcome to Yellow Dog Linux! Hit <TAB> for boot options."
partition=8
timeout=30
install=/usr/lib/yaboot/yaboot
magicboot=/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot
delay=10
enablecdboot

image=/boot/vmlinux-2.6.8-1.ydl.7
        label=linux
        read-only
        initrd=/boot/initrd-2.6.8-1.ydl.7.img
        root=/dev/hda8
        append="rhgb quiet"

image=/boot/vmlinux-2.6.10-1.ydl.1
        label=linux-2.6.10-1.ydl.1
        read-only
        initrd=/boot/initrd-2.6.10-1.ydl.1.img
        root=/dev/hda8
        append="rhgb quiet"

  Here are the currently installed kernels as reported by rpm:
[root at arwen root]# rpm -qa |grep kernel
kernel-2.6.8-1.ydl.7
kernel-source-2.6.10-1.ydl.1
kernel-source-2.6.8-1.ydl.7
kernel-2.6.10-1.ydl.1
kernel-g5-2.6.10-1.ydl.1

  Thanks!
  jer
