Building MPlayer 1.0-pre6a under YDL-4.0 [LONG]

For what it's worth,  I have build MPlayer with both gcc-3.3 and
gcc-3.4.0 on a G4 silver.

It's snowing today so I am hanging around the house. I have gcc-3.4.3
building in the background.  When it's done,  I will see if I get
replicate your problem.
