QUESTION:
Anyone out there running HAL [hardware abstraction layer]?
http://www.freedesktop.org/Software/hal
YDL-4 comes with:
* dbus-0.20-4.1
* udev-024-6
* MAKEDEV-3.13.1
* mkinitd-3.35.22
* initscripts-7.48.1
but no HAL.
I have begun experimenting with HAL, but I haven't gotten very far. I
cannot get the daemon to run.
% /usr/sbin/hald --daemon=no --verbose=yes

Running "lspci" indicates that hald may be unhappy about a SCSI
