GUI add/remove path correction

My GUI "add/remove applications" path invalid.  
ERROR: "path /mnt/cdrom does not look like a valid installation source."
How/ where do I change this path?

As an alternate, what is the terminal command to install programs on my
computer. 
*  "install --help"  provides little assistance.  
*  no how to available I could goggle either.
