error during system check

Hope to find some local linux help to get me settled. . .thanks for the help
linux community!

error during system check (YDL 4.0)
ERROR READS:
No device or address while trying to open /dev/sda2
That's my firewire (and it is connected + on, yet not working with YDL yet).

Then wants to repair filesystem #1, yet when I command "yes" only y's show up
and never stop.

May have done something while attempting OSX directory access.  HELP!
