to place the files into the correct directories, you have to give some
other option to configure, like "--prefix=/usr" and such.

I'm not currently running a YDL box, but under FC2/3 you can do a "yum
list" which will then list everything you have currently installed on
your machine. This should give you an indication about your DB4 versions.
