[ydl-gen] two screen light popups?

In my Ti PowerBook 3.5 running YDL 4.0.1 I find there are two popup windows 
overlaying each other when pressing the backlight buttons (F1 and F2).
One is a grey rectangle with a blue progress bar, and the other a tiny square 
with a discontinuous progress bar and a fancy icon.
Is there any way to remove one of them or even both? Backlight is evident by 
itself.

There is no evident menu or options in the Control Center for such purposes.
