[ydl-gen] MySQL Issues on YDL 3.0.1

hello there,

i am running ydl 3.0.1 on a powermac 7300, and almost everything has  
been running smoothly for the last couple of months... until today, i  
realized that the mysql support of php is not working properly. when  
i try to create a simple mysql connection through php i get the error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mysql_connect() in /var/www/ 
html/mysql.php on line 8

which seems quite strange as my phpinfo() shows that php 4.2.2 is  
installed --with-mysql=shared. i am also sure that the mysql server  
is working, as i can access and control it through the terminal.

any suggestions? should i reinstall php, or recompile it? i haven't  
done that before, so any help would be very much appreciated.
