Hi Hal!

I'm running an earlier version of the Broadcom card very nicely after
having followed the instructions on this page:

http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/support/solutions/ydl_5.0/airport-extreme.shtml

The only additions to these instructions are:

* Remember that the commands are invoked within /sbin.
* Use su or sudo.
* Every command is invoked by ./ (meaning dot/) preceding that command.

Regarding building the fwcutter application, keep the downloaded
compressed file available someplace, as you may need to uncompress the
app again in case your first effort of using make fails. You can tell
that creating the fwcutter app is not proceeding properly if the output
you get is not exactly as presented in the HOWTO prepared by Christopher
Murtagh. If the output doesn't match, you might as well remove the
bcm43xx-fwcutter-006 directory in which make failed and then re-extract
it from the compressed file and start again.

I went through this process several times. Eventually however it's all
worth while as one finally can lose the Ethernet cord (running eth0) and
run YDL 5 from your laptop running Airport Extreme (eth1). You may find
it a bit odd, as I did, to do the steps which include:

#./iwlist eth1 scanning

at each boot but as you get used to it you'll see all the broadcasts
available to your installed card.

Oh yeah, I'm running the above within YDL 5.0.2; I found that I had to
shutdown completely after the fwcutter application had been successfully
built. Then upon the next login I could follow the directions starting
from the section:

Setting up the network device (eth1) #2.

Best of Luck...
