I first tried installing Debian (on a dual G5 PowerMac), and eventually
gave up due to a parted (Debian partitioner) bug:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=354951
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=378593
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=388085
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=443272
(apparently all instances of the same bug).
The issue affects people that want to be able to boot OSX and Linux
from the same drive.

Installation of YDL worked immediately on the same partitions
that were giving problems with Debian. I did not try other distros.
