Can't Connect With DHCP Cable Modem

Greetings,

I just installed Yellow Dog Linux 2.2 on a PowerMac 8500.

I have a cable modem plugged into the ethernet port.

When I run Network Configuration in KDE and choose eth0 and DHCP, I get 
an error saying,
"A dhcp server did not respond. TCP/IP was not configure."

What should I do?
