I can't get any sound from KDE except when I play a .wav file in xmm.

On bootup I get the following error msg:

" Sound server informational message
Error while initializing the sound driver
SNDCTL_DSP_SETFMT failed - invalid argument.
The sound server will continue will continue, using the null device output"
I'm don't have a sound card.I'm using the sound from my computer (PowerBook G3
1999-2000. 500Mhz - OS 9.0.4.

How do I get KDE to make sounds for me on start up etc?
What do I do?
