I believe that the "home/office" install requires roughly 2 GB to install
successfully in 2.2. I managed to get a "bare bones" install running in 1.5
GB by selectively installing packages but ran out of room after one internet
browsing session (1 MB of cached files) [it certainly ain't no OS 9 for size
;].

If you can find a 3 GB or larger drive to piggy back off your main one
you'll be in much better shape. For the meantime, you could try doing a
bare-bones install (won't give you GUI, I think, but it'll work for basic
stuff).
