installing on an 'oldworld' (8500)

Thanks a lot Olaf, now I see a little clearer. Here are some precisions.
I format my HD a month ago with 2 volumes, both HFS+.
     vol A(os9)
     vol B(YDL iso 2.3/BootX_installer)
I have choosed the ramdisk-x11.image.gz (but it is in vol.A:system folder: ) 
and the ramdisk size is 16384.
Still unable to mount the cd...
