pdisk help

Hello again gentlemen,

I've been searching all morning, but I have been unable to find any
helpful information on pdisk.  Here's the problem:

- boot to single user mode
- run pdisk

I can see /dev/disk0 or /dev/rdisk0's partition maps, but I am unable to
write to either of them - I get the 'The map is not writeable.' error
message.  Le grr.

If there is a more appropriate list or URL to find this information
from, please let me know - hugely frustrated at this point.
