X-KDE to another computer

Hi,

I've setup the linux box to make eg an imac login on it
using graphical mode.  On the linux box, I add a line

to Xaccess and comment a line in xdm-config
#DisplayManager.requestPort:    0
(all files in /etc/X11/xdm)

So I can nicely start Xdarwin from the terminal on any
mac-os-10.* with
X -quartz -query 169.254.202.115
(the ipaddress of the linux box)

What I would like now is that it locally only runs in
text mode, not graphical....(just to save some ram...)
Main reason is that the ydl-ppc doesn't have a decent monitor...
