screen resolution?

did you allow for multiple resolution choices when you cfg'd your X 
server? Is so, enable the numlock and hit ctrl-alt-plus (or 
ctrl-alt-minus) to scroll thru your available resolutions till you
find one that is usable. If there is only the one, remember and/or write 
down your video card and your monitor, change to root, and run 
"Xconfigurator". when you get the chance, choose a bunch
of different resolutions in hopes that one will suit the combination of 
card and monitor...
that's what i did; chose the "failsafe" monitor choice and am happy with 
it...
