Install without booting (Greg Dougherty)

Ok. I copied the "Install" folder to my HD, uncompressed everything compressed
/ MacBinaried / BinHexed, and ran BootX_Installer. After about 5 minutes of
thinking, it launched, and ran. So far, so good.

Then I restarted my computer. I get the little box asking "Mac or Linux?" I
select Linux. It starts booting. Oh happy day!

Then it fails. VFS can't find any partitions. This doesn't surprise me,
because nothing has given me the chance to create any partitions. How do I do
that?

TIA,

Greg

OK, here's a lil' lowdown for you. Boot into Mac OS (you CAN run the BootX utility from Mac OS) then open the Boot X Control Panel.

You'll get the same "Choose your OS" box.
Click the Tab that says "Options",
you'll get another window "BootX Options", you'll have the following four buttons to choose from, they are
[]Set G3 cache
[]Force SCSI ON
[]Force video settings
[]Use specified RAM Disk (another button here called [Choose...] -check this one, then click on the Choose... to find your RAM Disk, which will give you two options:

ramdisk-text.image.gz
ramdisk-x11.image.gz

(I use the text image because the ATI Radeon driver doesn't work either before or after install, which I hope to find someone who can help me fix this someday; hint, hint, hint...)

choose one to open, then hit the "save to preferences" then hit Linux. From that point, you'll then get a Licsence Agreement, agree, then the installer will walk you through it the rest of the way.
