Higher resolutions on MultiScan 1705 display

I recently installed YDL 2.3 on my 8500 with a MultiScan 1705 display. =20
Everything works great except for the fact that I can only use an 800x600=
=20
screen resolution in X, regardless of the color depth (I know the monitor=
=20
supports higher because I've used 1024x768 in MacOS).  Using Xconfigurato=
r to=20
set the resolution any higher always produces the same result: when I run=
=20
startx the monitor goes to "sleep" but the machine apparently continues t=
o=20
function because eventually I hear KDE's startup chime.  Any advice would=
 be=20
greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
