YDL 3 on iMac DV SE

It seems the soundcard in my iMac DV SE is not recognized by KDE.  
Everytime I log in, I receive an error saying my sound device does not 
exist, and instead a "null" device will be used.  Well, I get sound 
alright but also a HUGE amount buzzing from my speakers.  In addition, 
I can hear what sounds like feedback every time I move my mouse or use 
the keyboard.  Is this a problem for anyone else?  Does anyone know how 
to fix it?
