Greetings Linux Guru's,

I'll try to brief (thnx in advance to ANY help/links/advice that is offered)

I have an (almost) stock 7300/180 160mb RAM/2gig/2 megs VRAM

Using an (old) external Hard Drive & the YDL 3.0 Disks I installed the basic (home/desktop) system with a few changes to keep the install smaller.

THe external drive houses 2 Mac partitions (boot & "other stuff") and is needed for startup. I hope to create a Mac Boot CD to start the machine and then turn everything over to Linux on the internal 2 gig HD *note*

   Everything worked fine for a while but then the video started acting strange, it reminded me of the RED going out on an Apple 15" multiscan, even though I used both that monitor, a 14" RGB and 14" Color Plus, and got the same discoloration on each. Now some type is blury and some dialog boxes during boot-up are unreadable (the hardware detect runs find but adding a video card pulls up dialogs I can't read due to the color problems)

The Question(s):
a) anyone else have this problem w/ the built in video? How was it resolved?

b) I used the "OF Compatible" setting for the video adapter, could this be the cause? what is the actual video adapter/chipset for the built in video and is there a place where I can look this data up for other machines I want to try?

c) any way to use a non-mac PCI video card as the primary video on the system to avoid this problem?

Thanks to all in advance!

*note2* a burned bootCD with the external drive not used caused problems in finding the swap partition (located on the internal) (but that's a mystery for another day.)
