I am a long time user of FWB Hard Disk Toolkit. You do wind up having to boot 
from the CD into OS9, but you have a much more detailed control. You might 
try partition in Disk Utility. FWB HDT will access devices that do not have a 
mountable volume. Drive 10 is a simular utility, but I have not used it.
