Thanks for letting me know that yum works.  I was signed on as root as 
I said in my original message.  I also do not have dsl so I do not have 
any cable plugged into it.  I was trying to use yum with a dial up 
account.  For some reason it was not working for me and that is why I 
asked others to try it.  I did not know if yellowdog was having trouble 
at the time or if it was on my end.
