Hello!
I am absolutely stymied by this new version of Yellow Dog Linux (Sirius). In
the past, I have used 2.x, but I went back to Mac OS Classic, and I now
remember why I switched to Linux before...
Unfortunately, the darn thing doesn't work. I follow all installation
procedures (in text mode), installing everything but GiMP (which seems to make
the installer hang), everything installs successfully, it gives me happy
messages, I reboot, and I sit and stare at the "Loading kernel..." message. I
have installed several times now (wiping the HD clean with Drive Setup between
installs), the latest time I let the "Loading kernel..." message sit there for
three hours, having read something about SSL loadings or something taking lots
of time on the first boot. To no avail.
I am installing YDL 3.0 from FTP'd ISOs burnt on a Windows PC onto a Revision A
iMac (Bondi Blue) with an IBM Deskstar 45GB. There are no hardware aberrations
but for my Voodoo2 GameWizard, additional RAM, and that I don't use stock Apple
kb/m: I use a MacAlly kb and an IntelliMouse. Any one have any ideas about this
source of great frustration?
Thank you very much!
