Recover disk partitions on a 3400

Thanks, I did manage to get it to boot off several MacOS disks (8.5, 9.0 and
9.1 even!)

I'm very surprised that it will boot off MacOS install disks but not a
Mandrake 9.1 PPC iso nor the YDL isos. What's the difference in the format?
Is it just straight ISO9660?

Bill

I would recommend getting a hold of an older system CD. System 7.6 to 9.1
boots on a 3400.

If you have access to a Mac (with a burner) you can download this link:
http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/
Apple_Software_Updates/English-North_American/Maci
ntosh/System/Mac_OS_8.1_Update/Disk_Tools_PPC.img. bin

Uncompress it, burn the image to disk and you should be able to boot with it
(again
holding down "C" if the key hasn't busted yet).

Alternatively, try to find LinuxPPC2000 isos and burn them. They might
still be around on some info-mac archives or maybe even Cheap Bytes places.
I had LinuxPPC2000 (not Q3... the release before) and it booted from CD on a
3400 and had a disk partitioning tool as one of the first steps.

The Old-world bootable CD is one of the things that's sadly lacking on every
other ppclinux distro, including YDL.

Cheers!

It's not booting off ANY disk. It won't boot off the YDL disk, either. It's
only trying to boot off the hard disk. Is there some option in OF to get it
to boot off the CD?
