Help - destroyed partition map - on my real (OSX) drive ...

Well folks, I need advice - asap.
I tried installing YDL 3.0 today. I have two drives, each with two
partitions. Drive #1 contains OS9 and OSX - each on its own
partition. Drive #2 has a backup partition, and one waiting for YDL
(actually, it already had 2.3 running).

Somewhere along the line there was an installation error, and when I
went back i to erase partitions and create new ones, somehow Drive #1
was damaged. but wait, there's more.

If I boot into OS9, all the partitions show up fine. The OS9
partition boots. The OSX partition shows all the files - intact.

BUT!, if I boot into Linux or OSX, Drive 1 vanishes. If I run the
YDL installer, it tells me that Drive #1's partition map has been
damaged/lost and the drive must be fully formatted. No. I have not
done that yet.

Worse comes to worse, I have a drive image of my OSX partition and
can erase it, but it will be a tedious process. I'm also gun-shy
about what might have happened. For the record, I've successfully
installed and deleted YDL partitions many times on other machines,
where it didn't really matter anyway.

Any Genius' who know what went wrong, and how to fix it (short of
wiping the drive and praying that carbon copy cloner will come to my
rescue)?

Grant
