Kernel panic after IDE init when booting 3.0 CD

I'm attempting to install YDL 3.0 on a 450 G4 and when I attempt to
boot the system from the CD I receive a kernel panic after the IDE
initialization. This same thing has happened before using a 2.3 CD
and I had hoped that 3.0 would resolve the issue. The messages near the
panic are as follows:

Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver Revision: 6.31

After this there come the barrage of hex values and such that tend to
accompany kernel panics. If anyone would find these useful in
diagnosing this problem, let me know and i can post them. Thank you,
