YDL 3 video problems

i couldnt get the gui installer to work and when linux was done 
installing i cant get any gui to work and am left at the command line. 
X configurator wount work and says no monitor could be opened or 
something like that, i have a dual g4 450 with 2x agp radeon 9000 pro 
mac. my display is a ccd studio 17" from apple connected to the adc 
port. can anyone help me, ive used linux for 2 semesters in college but 
have never had to install/setup....
