local usb printing problem

Does anyone have an Epson printer that won't print  with
YDL3.0. I've tried just about everything. Printer works fine
under OSX. CUPS finds my printer (Epson Stylus Photo 820)
and drivers with no problem. When I send a test page
the job is sent but no printing. The queue is 'idle and ready'.
Checked the HOW TO's but no help.

My guess is fixing this requires a major hack which I'm not
sure how to do. I'm thinking of just getting a new printer. Can
anyone recommend a fairly cheap printer that works
well for you? (< $250). Using a G4.
