No PCMCIA controller detected newbie powerbook pc card

I couldn't get my printer to work.

Then I noticed the following message while using the
KDE control center's Information/PCMCIA tab:

No PCMCIA controller detected


That would explain why no USB devices showed up! My
USB comes from my WallStreet's PCMCIA slots via a USB
2.0 pc card (which works fine under OS X and under OS
9) How do I fix this so it works under YDL 3.0?
