X won't start after yellowdog install on newish iBook

thanks for the friendly reminder to check the archive! i had searched
through recent months but did not go back so far as May00. the posting
you refer to suggests that iBooks need the "novideo" option to the
linux kernel. so i have the following truly newbie question:
what (yaboot?) configuration file should i edit and how,
so that next time i start yellowdog linux the novideo option is invoked...?

by the way in the meantime i have a more or less working yellowdog,
so feeling very proud of myself; i copied a line from knoppix-ppc
XF86Config to the yellowdog version and deleted some which seemed
doubtful...
