I would have agreed with you about the earliest iMacs. I remember having to 
bring my 300Mhz iMac to the local Mac technician in order to add extra memory 
-- just didn't want to perform a labotomy in order to put in an extra SIM. My 
500Mhz iMac has a one-screw entry for upgrading the RAM, plus easy access to 
my Airport card. The iMacs were not designed for anything more than casual 
upgrades.
