Wallstreet ethernet problems

Okay, I managed to get Yellowdog 3.0 up and running on my Wallstreet 
233 without any problems and I'm amazed at how quickly it zips along, 
but I can't get it to recognize my built in ethernet.  I tried playing 
with the network utility and it shows it as inactive and when I try to 
activate it, it keeps on failing.

This being my first foray into the linux world, please try to answer me 
as if I was stupid (small words), I'm still learning.

Help!
