Cant login

Hi I have just installed YDL on my white ibook dual usb (900 mhz 640MB 
RAM). Everything whent ok, no errors till i rebooted. but keyboard 
something (on swedish, dont now the word for the rest) failed. But it 
started and it showed a login window. I tried to login as user and as 
root but nothing worked. Then I tried to write the password in the 
login tab and all characters was ok. What to do? I found nothing at the 
lists.
