Hi Norberto
If you don't want to use BootX try Quik;
http://penguinppc.org/bootloaders/quik/
It boot via the >v3 Open Firmware. To familiarise yourself with Oldworld OF
I recommend reading the guides for NetBSD which boots via OF on all PPC
Macs;
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-1.6.2/macppc/INSTALL.html
and
http://www.netbsd.org/Ports/macppc/SystemDisk-tutorial/
Also you could try MiBoot which comes with BootX but I haven't bothered.
Have fun
Julius

No, no, I don't.

I don't want to run Mac OS any flavor

Not if the eventual outcome is no Mac OS

That's why I wanted Mac OS 7.5.X, it's free therefore no license needed.
But that won't work on my Beige G3/266 rev1 machine.

I know that.

Thanks for your post Eric, but my goals are two. 1) To install YDL 4 on an
old world mac and post the faq once I do it. 2) To install YDL 3.0.X on an
old world mac WITHOUT a parallel install of Mac OS and post the faq once
accomplished.
