As an FYI, this procedure does  not work, so don¹t even bother trying it
folks:

Funky Colors half-way through install? With some ATI graphics cards, the
Installer may revert to a less than pretty  display of colors. This is a
known bug that we were not able to fully resolve  in time for the YDL v4.0
launch. It is easily fixed by switching terminals, as  follows:
CTRL-OPTION-F2 ... and then back again to the Installer on terminal 7:
CTRL-OPTION-F7 

Again, this does not work.
