Sound??

Hi everyone,
                  I have recently  installed YDL4 on my G4 1GHZ  imac ( 
768 mb ram) and have been playing with it lately but I have had some 
little problems with it.
Firstly, I can't seem to get any sound as I previously encountered with 
version 3, I get a message as follows " Error while initializing sound 
driver" SNDCTL_DSP_SETMT failed  Sound server continues using the null 
output device. When using the Music Player I also get the message ALSA 
device "defAULT" does not exist.

Secondly, I am trying to mount my MacOSX partition and "Hfsutils" was 
not installed so I copied it from the number three cd of YDL and used 
the rpm -i   command to install it , I got the message it was already 
installed after I repeated the operation so therefore I did the  
modprobe hfsutils command but nothing was detected.

Anyone have any suggestions? I gave up using YDL 3 for these very 
reasons but at least now I can connect to the internet as I recently 
acquired cable broadband which just works!
