User-Mode Linux for Apple PowerPC G5

Friends:

This is probably important (but I do not understand it all):

"LynuxWorks(TM) Inc. today introduced the industry's first PowerPC
version of User-Mode Linux (UML) based on the latest Linux(TM) 2.6
kernel and available for the Apple PowerPC G5, the world's first 64-bit
desktop processor."(caution: long-ass URL):

Perhaps someone could explain to me (and to this list) what is
"user-mode Linux," and how it differs from the GNU/Linux with which you
and I are familiar.

Best wishes,
Clint
