error on bootup

After selecting "l" from yaboot, the YDL installation begins to boot.  
After a few seconds, however, I get this error message, and nothing else 
happens:
(this is after "Please wait, loading kernel...")
"/pci at 80000000/pci-bridge at d/pci-ata at 1/@0/disk at 0:11,/vmlinux-2.6.8-1.ydl.7: 
Unknown or corrupt filesystem"
This has happened upon initial installation, and then again when I tried 
reinstalling YDL.
Any suggestion?
