Installing and running OS's over USB

 I have successfully installed(NOT just copied) and booted Mac OS 9 off of
a USB flash drive and it worked fine on my iMac DV SE/500. I assume that
if it can be done with OS 9, it will work for YDL, OSX, etc. Somebody
with a real HD and not just 512MB Flash should try. I think that you
probably have to have a computer with NewWorld ROM for it to work because
of onboard USB required. What computer do you have?
