Problems installing Yellow Dog Linux onto Old World Mac

The installer for *3.0.1* keep hanging; that is *not* supposed to  
happen.

I'll try KUbuntuPPC if Debian doesn't work. Any idea what the work- 
arounds are or where I can look them up?
