Hi Barry:
When you install YDL 4.0 or 4.1 the option is available for you to
choose which Language you want YDL to be in so that when you first boot
into it; it will work within that language. Japanese is available as
one of those options.

Regarding Eye Candy; there is plenty of that available for YDL as KDE
and Gnome is compatible with themes available for those desktops.... all
the anime you want. Or all the anime I want, anyway. Take a look at
available themes or eye candy here:

http://freshmeat.net/search/?q=themes&section=projects&Go.x=0&Go.y=0

I also recommend the website called digital blasphemy
(http://digitalblasphemy.com/); you may be glad you stopped by. There
exists a gallery of free images for download.

Regarding your sound problem did you check within YDL for a little
control panel or application called Volume Control. Search for the
Sound & Video menu, then select Volume Control. When it finally opens
you might find a small x appearing over an tiny image of a speaker on
the bottom of the column marked Master. Click upon that x and increase
the bars and your sound should be operational. This should work within
KDE or Gnome. Once that occurs, you can jazz it up as much as you wish!

Wireless should be eth1; standard cable ethernet is eth0.

Configuring Ethernet to communicate with a outside DSL or faster
ethernet connection for YDL is pretty easy.
Find System Settings menu then select Network.

Enter System Admin or root password.

Network Configuration app starts. Then just click on Activate to start
eth0.
During installation, the option exists for you to have YDL always boot
with eth0 up and running.

Best wishes....
