Getting started with packages...

Hi Andy:

First, the instructions I'm sharing in this email refer strictly to YDL
4.1!

The link here provides instructions for correcting a problem with
up2date. See section, Up2Date broken...:

http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/support/

According to a section of the page posted here:

http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/resources/

/Fully-Automated method:/
Use *Up2Date* which is found in your local YDL Menu --> System Tools -->
Up2Date. Up2Date automates the process of updating installed
applications and installing new software with timed, automation.

The above is followed with an advisement which I posted the link to
above mentioning that Up2Date was broken and the fix to it.

As for the rest, there could be a library which perhaps you may find
useful. Once you have yum.conf pointing to several mirrors, it is
possible that you may come across something new when you go searching
for this library or accessory. Just do something like:

#yum search c*

and discover whatever yum comes up with. Somewhere in that list which
yum produces as a result of that search will be something regarding
c/c++; the search is so wide that this list should come up with anything
remotely close. Make note somewhere of whatever is on the list which
actually interests you, then install only that.

Good Luck....
