Basically, the answer is yes, for PPC Linux anyway. They apparently will not
release any source code and only put out an x86 binary, so unless you're on
x86, you're SOL. That's why Kai Staats, the CEO at TerraSoft, put out that
message to the list re: members making a request to Adobe for a PPC Flash
player.

However, I have been able to get some Flash working using a plugin for Firefox
(I posted on this previously). I may have actually downloaded the x86 Linux
version--the Adobe site doesn't make it at all clear--but I'm almost positive
that the .xpt plugin format for the Mozilla browsers (e.g. Firefox) is
cross-platform. I copied two different files into two separate locations
(again, see my post on this), and I'm not really sure whether one or both is
working. All I know is that the animations and banners that used to be ugly
blank space now appear as they should. I've been able to check this against
x86 Debian (my work machine), which of course has a dedicated Flash player as
well as a browser plugin.

Flash isn't the only thing--I've had a lot of problems with RealPlayer and the
open-source version, Helix Player. I think I've finally got things working,
though. I was thrilled that I could get streaming radio to work. Multimedia
is not a strong suit on PPC Linux, unfortunately. I hope more can be done
about that.
