Hi Paulo:

This (meaning the newbie and general mailing lists) is the " free
community support" you are referring to. Also free are the various
public mirrors which contain YDL when it is available for download,
the various HOW TOs explaining all kinds of stuff, and more. So
there is a lot of free stuff; in my experience the challenge has been
digging through all that when you are looking for solving something
specific causing a problem at the moment.

IF you decided to buy YDL (say you had to have the latest and richest
version in terms of quality and special technical additional
wizardry) and pay for installation support then these and other
services are available from TSS directly; then you'd be dealing with
the commercial version of what YDL comprises as a professional
package. One alternative would have been to have bought the PS3 with
YDL already installed for you as part of your purchase. You can
refer to the web page for more details of their other commercial
services: yellowdoglinux.com or terrasoftsolutions.com.

It may interest you that the instructions for installing YDL onto a
PS3 is available for free and is explained here (along with some
other things I omitted):

http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/support/installation/

Regarding your pursuit of a cd burner, I'm puzzled as to why you are
bothering. According to what is published here (and repeated
elsewhere in different ways throughout the web):

The PS3 will also support CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R
formats.

The quote came from here (should you wish to read the article yourself):

http://www.800hightech.com/technical_info.php?cat=5&prod_id=18&subcat=75

In other words, the PS3 is quite capable of burning CDs, DVDs and blu-
ray. Again I'm puzzled regarding why you are bothering looking for a
CD drive.

You may be able to save yourself some time by referring to your
department counselors or advisers to determine whether someone there
already has the optical disks available for YDL; then all you need to
work on is preparing the PS3 itself for reformatting and/or other
necessary procedures to put YDL onto the PS3 HD. After the
repartitioning is done so that the Game OS is on it's own partition
and the other partition is ready to have YDL loaded onto it, then you
can proceed with installing YDL onto the PS3. Be sure to read and
download the necessary instructions from the above link.

As to public mirrors containing YDL which you can download for free,
all that is available here:

http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/resources/downloads.shtml

You know Paulo, your FINALS should be coming up in a couple of
weeks. You may need to focus on that instead of this stuff or if you
must get into things YDL now to address particular projects you've
got to complete then it may be worth it to become real close buddies
with your Computer Science department and discover what solutions
they are willing to share with you.
Good Luck....

You should avoid making yourself too clear even in your explanations.
