YDL installer vs Slackintosh

Hi Steve:

I've heard of Slackware Linux years ago, way back in the early days.
They had a different reputation than Red Hat or even Debian, back
then.  I'm surprised they, or someone else, decided to make the time to
support a branch for the mac.  

Regarding the difficulties you reported is it possible that there are
components or other hardware which are not native or original Apple
hardware which came with your G5?  You may want to review the hardware
support page for YDL 6 where your machine is discussed.
