YDL 2.0: startx dependency missing

Subject: YDL 2.0: startx dependency missing

I installed a bunch of XFree86 packages, and got startx, but
a dependency appears to be missing from the RPMs. Specifically,
startx doesn't work. I have XFree86-4.0.2-6e.ppc.rpm installed, and
its dependencies satisfied.

Is there another preferred way to start X? xinit gives me the
same error.

This is the error I got last week when I ran startx (same
error as a normal user):

>[root@www /root]# startx
>xauth: creating new authority file /root/.Xauthority
>
>execve failed for /etc/X11/X (errno 2)
>
>xinit: unexpected signal 2

Now I get a different error, whether from the console or
logged in via ssh from my Mac OS X box (again, both as root and as a
normal user):

>[root@www rpm-ydl]# startx
>
>execve failed for /etc/X11/X (errno 2)
>giving up.
>xinit: Connection refused (errno 111): unable to connect to X server
>xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.

                                                Thanks,

                                                Chris Pepper
PS-Re-reported here per Hollis.
