It's probably your kernel that has not been well uncompressed. If you have
access to any other unix/linux machine, use it to get the kernel and to gunzip
it, you'll have better chance than under MacOS (It was discussed on the list
that downloading Benh's kernel was a bit tricky... a problem with the server).
You may also download the latest kernel from "Paulus' Linux kernel page" :

(it includes Ben Herrenschmidt's modifications).
